Little Mermaid Beryl

Adrianna/ @mygeekycorner and I have been playing around with the idea of What If Beryl was the mermaid who chose to kill her prince for at least two years now. Someday Adrianna is going to write the fic while I draw for it, but for now I’ve been concepting art for her to use as inspiration, so!

This year Mermaid Beryl is a bit more influenced by Human Beryl’s silmil self with the jewelry and clothing. I kept her red hair and purple tail to help smooth the transition into becoming the sea witch version based on Queen Beryl. I also thought it would be hilarious to give her a statue of Endymion.

Tentatively Michiru is the sea goddess that grants Beryl human legs. I based her on the idea of Ponyo's mom Granmamare, mostly being very big and floaty. Beryl finds her sitting serenely inside a giant clam shell, illuminating the depths of the sea with her holy body.

I wanted to explore Beryl being an octopus and also being an undead, twisted sea creature. Aside from the obvious tentacles, Beryl has octopus eyes on her belt, a beakish looking face, and her hair billows up behind her like an octopus sac.

The blood stains are, of course, from when she killed Endymion, and her staff is an oyster and pearl combo. She has greenish skin and a skeletal body suggesting she may be undead.
